So, according to family legend, one of the first coherent sentences I said as a toddler was: ‘Please teach me some more wonderful words.’
My love of words has been the foundation of a 15-year career across fields including journalism, content writing, editing, social media and public relations. I’ve had the opportunity to work in sectors including book publishing, higher education, Government and non-profits.
Basically, I like to ask questions and tell stories.
And I’ve had some fairly interesting adventures! I’ve loaned a pen to a world leader, toured Australia with bestselling authors, led social media for big organisations, created community/fan events in three states, judged a literary award, written editorial content for brands that went on to be picked up mainstream media, and once even coached a Nobel Laureate through a Kylie Minogue-inspired rap. I’ve interviewed people from all walks of life – including child stars, award-winning researchers, and even a 95-year old-ballerina.
Yep, I’m what recruiters ominously call a ‘comms all-rounder.’ But honestly what that looks like in reality is being organised, curious and resourceful.
